Proyecto de innovación SOLAR HC

SOLAR HC

Heating and cooling system with renewable energies, using innovative storage with a high thermal capacity and low melting point which can be fitted in any type of installation with heating and cooling needs.

The general aim of the project consists of improving technologies involved in the generation of industrial heating and cooling from solar energy and their application in industrial processes.

The SOLAR H&C project has been subsidised by the CDTI, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and co-financed with Structural Funds of the European Union.

Project partners: PROJECTS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PIPELINES (PROIMTU), AZCATEC TECNOLOGÍA E INGENIERÍA, and PROCAVI.

Objective

The particular objectives of Fertiberia in the Project are as follows:

  • Develop a system design that allows the TES material to be used as a heat transfer fluid, eliminating elements of the assembly, minimising energy losses and increasing the overall COP (thermal efficiency); simplifying and reducing costs by eliminating unnecessary elements with this new configuration.
  • Evaluate new salts and state-of-the-art TES materials with a very low melting point and high decomposition temperature, which allow the working temperature of the heat transfer fluid to be raised, increasing the overall performance of the cycle and preventing problems of crystallisation and decomposition that generate toxic gases.
  • Design a thermal storage system with state-of-the-art quaternary molten salts, operating at high temperatures without degradation and with a low melting point, preventing solidification problems.
